The Differences in Limited Editions
All prints are signed and individually numbered (s/n) 1 through whatever the edition consists of  (i.e. 25/2500) which makes up the limited edition. When they are gone there will be no more. Usually comprised of only 10% of the edition the Artist Proofs also are signed, numbered and marked accordingly (i.e. 25/250 a/p). These are the first reproductions off the press approved by the artist before the actual run. On average a/p are 30% to 40% more expensive, and accordingly worth more. Publisher's proofs also are signed, numbered and marked accordingly (i.e. 25/75 p/p). This exclusive number of prints is reserved at the discretion of the artist. Rarely offered, publisher's proofs offer a unique opportunity to collectors.

The Value of Limited Editions
Unlike posters, signed and numbered editions are limited at the time of issuance to a specific number. Traditionally, all materials used in the printing of the edition are destroyed. Once an edition is sold out by the artist or gallery representing the artist, a numbered member of the edition is only available for resale on the secondary market—the resale of prints between private owners—where the value of these prints traditionally increases. A good example of such appreciation is that of Guardians by Allan Albaitis. Sold out and not available from FireArt, Guardians can only be found when the occasional collector makes his or her limited edition print available for sale. A signed and numbered (s/n) can currently fetch a price of two to three time its original value. Is there value in purchasing limited edition lithographs from FireArt? Absolutely.
